Trade Winds Dance of Palm Trees Canvas Print
Print of Original Oil Painting

I painted this in Florida with a senior artist, Phil, who taught me the flow of palm trees in oil paint. It is one of my favorite paintings that I treasure dearly.
"Where the Trade Winds Dance" is the title I gave this painting, and this is the story I created. The storm hadn’t officially hit yet, but the coastal area was already aware of its approach. From the shoreline, the scenery was a dynamic display of movement. The sky, typically a heavy and stagnant summer blue, was now a rush of tumbling white clouds racing across a deep azure backdrop. On the water, the deep sapphire depths churned, pushing frothy white crests toward the emerald shallows of the shore. But the true spectacle unfolded on land. A sudden, fierce gust swept through the coastal grove, catching the high fronds of the palm trees. Instead of breaking, the ancient trees did what they had done for decades: they bowed. They danced. Their long, slender trunks swayed with a surprising, fluid elegance, while their vibrant green crowns whipped wildly toward the east, catching the brilliant midday. But for the elements at play, it was a perfectly orchestrated performance. The wind would push, the palms would yield, and the deep, unseen roots securely anchoring them beneath the grassy dunes would ensure that once the skies finally cleared, every single one of them would remain standing tall.
